Recorders and Wireless I/O integrated

The following information will provide a method of setting up Modbus Master / Slave communications between a Recorder 6100A/6180A (Master) and the WPR9-2222P (Slave).

 

6100 Wireless Integration
Setting up a 6100a/6180a as a Modbus Master
Step 1 Log in as Engineer by pressing the top right hand button and then selecting Engineer:

Step 2 Enter your password (as default 100)

Step 3 Go to connections configuration

Step 4 Set-up the serial connection

  • Set desired software protocol (ASCII/MODBUS)

  • Set desired hardware protocol (RS232/RS485)

  • Set Baud rate/stop bits/ parity

Step 5 Go to Master Comms configuration

Step 6 Check the enable block

Step 7 Set-up and detect the slave device
  • Choose the connection type (serial 1/ serial 2/ ethernet)

  • Choose the Modbus address

  • Select detect this slave

Step 8 Go to the channel configuration

Step 9 Choose Master Comms as your input type

Step 10 Set-up the channel to display the value
  • Choose the slave device

  • Choose the Modbus function code

  • Enter the desired Modbus register

  • Select the data type (16 bit integer)

Step 11 The actual reading should appear.

WPM9-1W115KK setup:
  • Power up state

    • Power LED – ON steady – red

    • RSSI LED – Off

    • RF Data LED - Off

  • Connect PC to wireless modem serial port and open software.

  • Check firmware version (2067) and make sure the same firmware version is used on all wireless modem and wireless I/O in the network.

  • Change setting to match image below.

    • Channel Number: 00

    • Network Identifier: 0011

    • Destination Address: FFFF

    • Baud Rate: 9600

    • Parity: None

    • Stop Bit: 1 Stop Bit

    • Flow Control: No software flow control

WPR9-2222P setup:
  • Power up state

    • Power LED – ON steady – red

    • RSSI LED – Off o RF Data LED – Off

  • Connect PC to wireless modem and open software.

  • Check firmware Version (2067) and make sure the same firmware version is used on all wireless modems and wireless I/O in the network. (see below)

Change setting to match settings below:

  • Region: Other

  • Channel Number: 00

  • Network Identifier: 11

  • Communication Mode: Modbus

  • Modbus Address: 2

The Channel Number and Network Identifier must be the same for the modules to communicate

Connecting to the Chessell 6100A

  • After programming the Chessell 6100A (Modus master) to poll and display the WPR9-2222P connect the WPM9-1W115K RS-232 port to the 6100a.

 

WPM9-1W115K RS-232 Serial connections:

  • Port 1 is a configured as a DTE RS-232 port. This will connect to the WPM9-1W115K, DB9 RS-232 using a standard straight through cable.

  • Minimum required connections between the 2 units are TX, RX, and ground.
